Rippingtons

The Rippingtons were formed in 1986 by guitarist Russ Freeman.  They developed the “smooth or cool” jazz genre and became famous. Russ writes all the music.

Their groundbreaking 1986 debut album, Moonlighting, was described as” the most influential contemporary jazz album of all time.“ Many popular albums followed: Kilimanjaro, Tourist in Paradise, Welcome to the St. James Club, Curves Ahead, Weekend In Monaco, Live in L.A., Sahara, Brave New World, Black Diamond,  Topaz, Live Across America, Life in the Tropics, Let It Ripp! and Wild Card (2005).

For their 20th anniversary Rippingtons released a CD featuring a reunion performance of band members from the beginning (2006). Original members included saxophonists Brandon Fields and Dave Koz; pianists David Benoit and Gregg Karukas; bassist Jimmy Johnson; drummer Tony Morales and percussionist Steve Reid.

The Trinity P2500 recorded a Stephen Gislason arrangement of Morocco in 2007.

Music arranged and performed by Stephen Gislason and the Trinity P2500 Band.
