Bread

Bread was a popular pop group of the early '70s. Keyboardist/vocalist David Gates wrote melodic soft rock singles. In 1968, Gates formed a group with guitarist/vocalist James Griffin and guitarist/vocalist Robb Royer to form Bread. Their second album, On the Waters, was a hit.

As with many groups we have revisited, Bread disbanded in 1973 because of conflict among band members. The founders of Bread, Gates and Griffin didn’t get along. They reunited in 1976, releasing Lost Without Your Love but soon went separate ways. At last word, Gates retired to a California ranch and Griffin went to Nashville.
