Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Clearwater Revival was one of the great rock bands in the US. They incorporated musical styles of the rural South, US. Brothers, Tom and John Fogerty came from El Cerrito, California. They released their first album, Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967. John Fogerty took the lead as guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. They became popular with their rendition of Dale Hawkin's "Suzie Q." Six albums followed from 1968 and 1970: Ten singles became hits between 1968-71. Several songs such as "Fortunate Son" and "Who'll Stop the Rain" expressed resistance to the Vietnam War and sympathy for those who were fighting.
