Erasure Erasure is an English synth-pop two man band, consisting of keyboardist Vince Clarke and singer Andy Bell. They began in 1985 with a debut single "Who Needs Love (Like That)" From 1986 to 1997, Erasure had twenty-four consecutive hits in the UK. By 2007, 34 of their 40 singles made the Top 40; 17 reached the Top 10. Erasure’s worldwide album sales is over 25 million. Vince Clarke began writing melodic pop songs with Depeche Mode and Yazoo. Song-writer and singer, Andy Bell, and Clarke's electronic synth styling created a diversity of musical ideas. When I first heard Erasure recordings in 2003 (I was out of touch with pop music for many years), I was delighted. They made happy music, even with sad or angry lyrics. Their rhythms and melodies were appealing. My arrangements are usually simpler than the originals. I use different instruments and often edit or remove drumming. Erasure likes fast repetitive motifs often on several tracks, sometimes too much for me. I also want to create space in the final mix. I felt that were were kindred spirits and shared the magic of studio arrangements using synthesizers exclusively. Lyrics for A Little Respect
I try to discover A little something to make me sweeter Oh baby refrain From breaking my heart I'm so in love with you I'll be forever blue That you give me no reason Why you're making me work so hard
That you give me no That you give me no That you give me no That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling Oh baby please Give a little respect To me
And if I should falter Would you open your arms out to me We can make love not war And live at peace with our hearts I'm so in love with you I'll be forever blue What religion or reason Could drive a man to forsake his lover
Don't you tell me no Don't you tell me no Don't you tell me no Don't you tell me no
Soul, I hear you calling Oh baby please Give a little respect To me
I'm so in love with you I'll be forever blue That you give me no reason Why you're making me work so hard
That you give me no That you give me no That you give me no That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling Oh baby please (Give a little respect) Give a little respect To me
(Soul) I hear you calling Oh baby please (Give a little respect) Give a little respect To me |
